Deborah Lauchner comes to the City of Reno with more than 20 years of experience in local government finance. She is most recently from the City of Santa Rosa in California, where she was the Chief Financial Officer. In that role, she oversaw the City’s $385 million budget and directed all financial systems, functions and policies for more than 1,200 employees. At the City of Santa Rosa, she led the financing of the reunification of Courthouse Square, which saved the City's General Fund $65,000 in annual debt service. Among other accomplishments, Lauchner also refinanced $53.6 million in subregional sewer refunding bonds, saving ratepayers $16.5 million.

“Deborah’s finance experience is deep and vast, and she will be a welcome addition to our team,” Reno City Manager Sabra Newby said. “The Santa Rosa organization is similar in size to Reno, and we feel that she will make a smooth transition and help further our important priority of maintaining a strong financial condition.”
Lauchner holds a B.S. in Agricultural and Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. Prior to her tenure at the City of Santa Rosa, she worked in finance for a number of other California municipalities, including her roles as Finance Director at the City of Vallejo and Finance Manager at the City of Novato.
